We deactivate the motorways on our satnav and chug south overland. Instead of going through the Elbe tunnel, we take the ferry in Glückstadt. Cost: 19 euros
We interrupt the journey to buy fresh bread, to fill up the diesel tank for an incredible 0.989 euros and, of course, for a lunch break.
Shortly after 3.30 p.m. we reach the parking space in Steinhude on the Steinhuder Meer.
A top pitch - well, that's not entirely true for us, but it's really ok.
Our kitchen remains cold today too. A short walk takes us to Steinhude and here we find a pleasant restaurant. We enjoy fish and schnitzel.
We capture some more impressions and moods from the lake.
Then we make ourselves comfortable in the Pfüdi.

Day route: Rendsburg - Steinhuder Meer
Distance: 262 km
Travel time: 5 hours 4 minutes
Average consumption: 8.5 liters
Average speed 51 km/h

Tuesday, September 29
Somewhere in Norway we came across a construction site where the road was being freshly tarred!
And we've been on the road for almost 8 weeks. There were a few kilometers of dirt road on our route, softened by the rain! And just dust and dirt.

This morning we spontaneously found a car wash that our Pfüdi fits into (he's just a bit too long). It's unbelievable what "sauce" runs down there!

And now our Pfüdi stands in its original colors in Lippoldsberg directly on the Weser. A beautiful sight!
Unfortunately, the Anker restaurant right next to the parking space is closed today.
We have been looking forward to schnitzel and french fries for a long time.

But we have an omnia oven. And so we conjure up a delicious vegetable/chicken casserole with potato dumplings. Add a small tomato salad. And of course a glass of wine is not missing either.
Day route: Steinhuder Meer - Lippoldsberg

Travel time: 3 hours 5 minutes
Average consumption: 9.2 liters

Wednesday, September 30th
The day is quickly told. We chug along south, in a straight line with a few bends. The motorways are still closed.
After a lovely drive today we reach the Forellenhof campsite near Hammelburg.
And today we are lucky. The restaurant is open and the schnitzel, French fries and salad taste excellent.
With a small beer and a mineral water it only costs 25 euros.
Tagesstrecke: Lippoldsberg - Hammelburg
Distance: 225 km
Travel time: 4 hours 4 minutes
Average consumption: 8.8 liters
Average speed 55 km/h
Pitch costs: 10 euros including water/electricity, without electricity

Thursday, October 1
October 3rd is approaching, German Unity Day. How many motorhomes will be on the road?
We continue west. We drive a bit along the Main. In Lohn am Main we walk through the beautiful old town.
But the parking space here is too noisy for us.

The parking space in Wertheim also still has free spaces at lunchtime. However, the best ones are already taken. The noise level here is also not insignificant. The view of the castle would be nice.
After a long lunch break we make our decision.

We activate the motorways in the GPS and drive to Bad Dürrheim.
We are also lucky, only a short traffic jam along the whole route.
So we arrive at the parking space at 4 p.m., which surprisingly has a lot of free spaces.
We are curious to see how many will arrive tomorrow.
Day route: Hammelburg - Bad Dürrheim
Distance: 317 km
Travel time: 4 hours 56 minutes
Average consumption: 9.3 liters
Average speed 64 km/h
Pitch costs: 11.50 Euro including water/electricity, without electricity

Friday 2 October - Sunday 4 October
The parking space in Bad Dürrheim remains surprisingly empty.
The Solemar thermal baths are of course popular and the entry tickets are limited and can only be booked online at the moment. Perhaps that is what deters some people from travelling here.
Now we are enjoying a day of rest here. We go shopping early. We also take a walk through the town and especially through the spa gardens.

The weather is holding up well, even the sun is shining.
We also take the time to review our trip.
We had an amazingly warm trip.
This can also be seen from the fact that the box with scarves, gloves, hats and long underpants remained completely unused.
The sun also accompanied us frequently.
We didn't have a single day of rain, from morning to night. In Fauske we probably experienced the most intense and longest rain.

We end Friday with the obligatory visit to the Rössle restaurant. Once again we enjoy a delicious dinner here.

Saturday starts cloudy and wet.
We are entering Switzerland. At the border, people are not interested in where we come from, but rather whether we have goods with us.
We spend the day visiting and shopping at Mrs. Bräm’s farm shop and at the camping shop.
And then, as so often before, we land at our secret spot in the Zurich Oberland. Sun and a bright blue sky greet us.
We always enjoy this last evening very consciously. This time even more. We probably won't be on the road again any time soon.
The last coffee in bed on Sunday morning, a last breakfast in the Pfüdi on this trip and then we hit the last few kilometers.
And the pictures prove it.
After exactly 12,012 kilometers we reach the Flims exit. We are back home.
A beautiful trip with lots of animals but few northern lights comes to an end.
And most importantly - we arrived safe and sound.
