Monday, August 24
Whatever the reason, we are both suddenly awake at 6 a.m. and so we start this beautiful day early. The mountain peaks have been covered in powdered sugar overnight!
The sun is shining in Lom.
We can dispose of waste at the Esso gas station. Pfüdi gets diesel and AdBlue.
We cannot replenish our wine stock. The Vinomonopolet is closed on Mondays.
And quite spontaneously, we turn the indicator at the intersection not to the right as originally planned, but to the left towards Geirangerfjord.

Geiranger - a place that always attracts us. Watching ships is interesting here. Today, however, the fjord lies quiet and lonely before us. Only the ferry arrives in the harbor once every hour and brings a few cars and a few motorhomes.
The consequences of Corona can be seen and felt very clearly here. Some shops have never opened this season, others are already closed again because the high season is over.
Those that are still open are outdoing each other with discounts.
A few souvenirs also end up in our Pfüdi.
After several attempts, I finally found my dream Norwegian sweater.

We have to support the Norwegian economy while we are here.

A Norwegian dream day!
Today it is the toll road Sladalsvegen that completely delights us.
We enjoyed every second. What more can we say about it?
The peace, the silence, the vastness!

Our overnight spot is near Hjerkinn. Tomorrow we'll hike to the Snohetta viewpoint.
Maybe we'll even come across musk oxen - that would be nice.

Finally it works. So we hike to the Snohetta viewpoint.
Luckily, Norwegians are not early risers. So at 9 a.m. we are still almost alone and can enjoy and photograph the truly impressive hut.
But we are not here just because of this hut. The landscape and the musk oxen are just as important.
And we are incredibly lucky and can observe these impressive animals through our binoculars.
They are too far away for photos, but we are really happy that we got to see some at all.
Even my arthritis-stricken hip survived this really not-so-long hike quite well. Thanks to painkillers.

Well, unfortunately the rest of the day doesn't go quite as smoothly as it sometimes does.
Actually, we have discovered another small toll road that we would like to drive on and would also like to spend the night up there.

This time it is a round trip. But oh dear, at the first toll station there is a sign that the road is closed today between 12.30 and 15.30 and we only arrived shortly after
2 p.m. So we travel on and approach the road from the other end.
When we finally arrive at the toll station, we are almost speechless. The dirt road is actually no problem at all, but the gradient and the curves are extreme. We don't want to subject our Pfüdi to that. So we turn around.

So after a long and tiring journey we end up in Molde today. We've been on the road for far too long. We're exhausted. In Molde we just head for the campsite. It's a bit expensive, but we manage to get a nice spot just before 6 p.m.
All's well that ends well!
We enjoy an aperitif, cook a simple dinner and enjoy the beautiful evening atmosphere.

Thursday, August 27
At around 9 p.m. we found out from our neighbors that there was still room to spend the night on the Varden viewing mountain.
But this morning we think that this view and this start to the day is just as fantastic. We see a lot of mountains at home, but we don't have the sea right in front of us.
We won't get very far today. We want to enjoy the Atlantic Road. We think the drone really shows it off.

The route is not very long, so you can just turn around and go back. And on the way back we find our spot for the rest of the day and night.
Cameras, video cameras and also the drone are in full use throughout the day and of course also in the evening at sunset.
In between, Hansruedi catches a mackerel, which we enjoy eating for lunch.

Clearly, the Atlantic Road is a busy road. We can park perfectly. The back of the Pfüdi faces the sea.
We ignore the traffic and enjoy our private bay with a stone table and chairs. Enjoy the view, the sun and simply everything.

To end the day, the perfect sunset.
Addendum the next morning:
We slept wonderfully. Quite early on, we could no longer hear any cars, everyone was already in bed.

Friday, September 4th
Our journey continues towards Kristiansund.
A detour out to Hestskjaer Fyr is a must!

The archipelago landscape also reminds us of Sweden.

Instead of continuing on to Trondheim on the usual route via the E39, we take the ferry to Tommervag in Steivika shortly after Kristiansund and take a completely new route via road 680.
On this first inland ferry we also get to know the payment method in times of Corona.
The ferry employee doesn't sell us a ticket as usual, but takes a photo of our license plate, asks us how long the vehicle is and which country we're from (at a reasonable distance, of course). At some point, a bill will probably arrive at home, just like on the Norwegian toll roads. And that way, no one has to spend any money and at least the risk of infection is reduced to a minimum.

For us, this would probably be impossible because of the sacred data protection.
The landscape is of course twice as beautiful in this wonderful weather.

There are few free parking spots on our route. We don't like some of them either, so we end up at a small campsite near Kyrksaeterora, which is particularly popular with anglers.
Once again the Pfüdinase stands at a fjord.
Tagesstrecke: Atlantikstrasse - Kyrksaeterora
Distance: 160 km
Travel time: 3 hours 38 minutes
Average consumption: 10 liters
Average speed 43 km/h
Camping costs: 250 NOK incl. food/water, without electricity

Saturday, August 29
This morning we spontaneously decide to drive a few kilometers north. So for a long time the E39 and then the E6 are our roads. Actually a rather boring route. But who would have thought at the start of the day that we would see more moose than ever before on one of our trips to Scandinavia!
We see the first moose shortly after we set off!
Then comes moose number two...

and moose number three ...

Moose number four and five stand photogenically in a clearing ....
Moose number six took off before we could press the shutter button on the camera!

At the end of our 33rd wedding anniversary today, we are standing on the RV17 in a wonderful parking spot with a magnificent view.
Perfect for a cozy evening!
Route: Kyrksaeterora - Kjelleidet RV17
Distance: 400 km
Travel time: 6 hours 16 minutes
Average consumption: 8.8 liters
Average speed 63 km/h

Sunday, August 30
What a wonderful start to the new day!
For the first time we are driving on the RV17 from south to north. OK, it's actually called the FV17 today but for me it is and will always be the RV17, period.
The ferry trips are always a welcome change.

Our day of sailing ends today at 2 p.m. in a small harbor near Bronnoysund.
Once again we have to do some office work.

And otherwise it's just a matter of relaxing and enjoying.
Day route: Kjelleidet - Bronnoysund
Distance: 100 km
Travel time: 2 hours 12 minutes
Average consumption: 9 liters
Average speed 45 km/h
Pitch cost: 200 NOK, only with waste bin
