Tomorrow 6 °C

Noon 22 °C Extreme Sahara dust is in the air!!!!

Evening 16 °C Still extreme Sahar dust!!!!

The morning was partly rainy, but looking back you can say it was really clear.
We drive back to the coast. We do some shopping in the supermarket again and then we drive further east. We stayed overnight in Almerimar last summer. Now in March there are more motorhomes here than in the summer high season. So we continue on to our destination for the day - the Tabernas desert. We are now drowning in Sahar dust. The photos have not been edited - this is the original atmosphere!!

Noon 22°C Extreme Sahara dust is in the air!!!!

Evening 16 °C The Sahara dust has moved on to Switzerland!

The Tabernas Desert - for us, a destination that we would love to visit in more detail when the weather is better, should we ever come to the area again.
But now we have to make a decision - we will leave Spain as soon as possible. The weather forecast is bad for the next two weeks, right up to the French border. The further east you travel in France, the better the weather becomes. Let's see how our journey home develops.
The Sahara dust is still with us for a long time today. It is not even really day. Luckily it hasn't rained yet. So our Pfüdi is mostly dusted off by the wind and the strong wind that is blowing.
Our aim is to reach our daily destination at around 4 p.m. This way we still have time to get moving after a long journey. We know the parking space in Calp from last summer. It is very big (even bigger in winter) - there will probably be a space for us.
On June 27th, 2021, we had a large selection. Today, it is much smaller!
For us this is clearly a place for one night. For others it is a place to overwinter!
Well, tastes differ!

The weather is still very poor, there is no sign of improvement any time soon, so we just drive on. We really don't like it here at the campsite. We were just here to sleep.
We arrive at the campsite in L'Hospitalet de l'Infant in good time. We have lunch at 2 p.m. and later we take a digestive walk along the sea.

New Paragraph
We arrive in Gruissan Plage after 389 uneventful kilometers and cannot stop being amazed.
Our fear that the place would be full to bursting proved unfounded. In all our stops here we have never encountered so few motorhomes. Nobody understands the motorhome world.
For once, there is no wind here. But on the way to dinner, we get rained on and the meal itself is unfortunately a disaster. But we have lost a bit of weight!

The weather forecast is finally looking more promising again. Tomorrow the sun is supposed to shine in Saint-Marie-de-la-Mer and further east it looks very sunny from Sunday.
We arrive at the campsite around lunchtime. And it looks like you would expect in the off-season. Few motorhomes, lots of space!
Hansruedi conjures up a delicious shrimp salad for us for lunch and then we walk along the sea into the village. In summer and autumn, the streets here are full of crowds of people. Now it is really idyllic, we enjoy it and a few souvenirs end up in a shopping bag and we lick the first ice cream of this trip with pleasure. The sun is also already showing through the veil of clouds today.

We start the day lazily. And the day stays lazy. The sun takes its time. The morning stays cool and we don't feel like unloading the e-bikes. Around midday the sun breaks through the clouds and we set off on foot to Saintes-Maire-de-la-Mer for lunch. The temperatures are now really pleasant and we can sit outside.
There are more people out and about today, but it's still not very busy. Now that it's the weekend, more restaurants are open and there are a lot more shops in general. So we stroll through the streets again.

Oops, the second half of the night was very stormy. Hansruedi even jumped out of bed to take care of the satellite dish. A few raindrops also fell. Luckily, this was over by the time we were ready to leave. But the strong wind accompanied us all day.
Our goal for today - we want to find blue skies and sunshine again. To do this, we are travelling eastwards. We never actually wanted to use the motorway for so many kilometres, but we want to make progress. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it! As you can see from the photos, we found blue skies and sunshine.
While Hansruedi enjoys the first Formula 1 race of the season after the exertions of driving, I take a long exploratory walk through the village of Ormea.
Afterwards we cook something delicious and enjoy a quiet evening.
After six rather grey days, we can add the sun symbol again today. Another positive thing to mention is that the amount of rain was less than forecast. Or it rained mainly at night, which is not exactly conducive to sleep. A constant companion was the strong wind.
